The club celebrated World Friendship Day on March 1 by sorting books at Books For Africa at Atlanta Industrial Park located in Southwest Atlanta. Books for Africa has been sending books to needed communities since 1988. Many communities have no access to books. The non profit organization’s mission is to end the book famine in Africa. With our help, we can help create a culture of literacy and provide tools of empowerment to the next generation of parents, teachers, and leaders in Africa.
Each box of books costs $18 to ship. To ship a sea container to the shores of Africa costs $10000 and $5000 more to ship it inland. They have shipped books to 49 different countries.
Our club is sponsoring an outbound journey (exchange) to Tanzania on August 28, 2017 where there are 26 ambassadors ready to explore the country and make contributions to the various communities and schools that we will visit. Our volunteering at Books for Africa tied into our journey to Eastern Africa.

After volunteering we celebrated our work and friendship at Jack’s New Yorker Deli in Vinings. The talk and laugher was spontaneous which makes our social activities so much fun.
